Retail & D2C · Catalogue management

We design the structure behind your products: SKU codes, variants, attributes, tax fields and upload sheets. Your team adds a whole season from a spreadsheet, and shoppers find the right size and colour in two taps.

In plain words

Catalogue management,explained without jargon.

What is catalogue management for an online store?

One idea at a time. Each sheet lays over the last, so the picture builds up. Tap a number to jump.

Think of it like this

It works like the shelving plan in a well-run kirana store, where every item has a fixed place and label so anyone on the team can restock it.

01 / 04

It is the set of rules that decide how every product is named, coded, grouped and described, so the same item looks the same everywhere it appears.

02 / 04

It covers SKU codes, variant options like size and colour, attributes such as fabric or pack size, tax details and images.

03 / 04

With good rules in place, a spreadsheet can create or update hundreds of products at once without breaking anything.

04 / 04

Without them, each upload creates duplicates, missing sizes and filters that show the wrong things.

An example

Picture a business like yours,in three frames.

A typical situation, not a client story. The line in each frame goes from tangled to straight as the work is done.

Signs you need it

Heard yourself say this?Count how many fit.

Five things owners tell us before a project like this starts. Every one you recognise adds a tally mark.

What you receive

Six parts, all handed over to you.

Your Catalogue management work is made of these six parts. The comb lights each one in turn; tap a cell to read it.

SKU and naming rules

A written pattern for SKU codes, product titles and variant names that your designers, warehouse and accountant can all follow.

  • SKU and naming rules
  • Variant and attribute model
  • Bulk upload templates
  • Compliance and tax columns
  • Cleaned and deduplicated catalogue
  • Collections, filters and feeds
The decision

The question we hear most:Should variants live as one product or separate products?

The board turns through each option. Tap one to hold it and read the trade-off.

Pick this when

The items differ only in size or a few colours, and shoppers expect to switch between them on one page.

The trade-off

Platforms cap the number of option types per product, so very complex items may need bundles or extra products.

How it runs

Four legs of one relay, about 5 weeks, start to finish.

Each leg is sized by how long it usually takes. Watch the baton go round, or tap a leg to jump there.

Common mistakes

Four things that trip a project, and the fix we fit instead.

Each fuse is a mistake we see often. Watch it blow and get replaced, or tap a fuse to read the fix.

Trips when

Letting anyone type free text for colours and sizes

How we avoid it

Use fixed value lists in the upload template so 'XL' is always 'XL' and filters stay clean.

What shapes the quote

Four factors, four corners of your project.

Each corner grows when that factor is on the larger side. The outline is your project's footprint, and the quote follows it.

Footprint

A compact project. The smallest footprint for your quote.

Cost & timeHow long does a catalogue cleanup take?

A tidy catalogue of a few hundred products usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. Thousands of SKUs spread across conflicting sheets can take 5 weeks or more. The audit in week 1 gives you a firm timeline.

Getting startedWhat makes catalogue work larger or smaller?

The number of SKUs, how messy the current data is, how many attributes each product needs and whether an ERP feeds the store. We describe the scope in a fixed quote within 48 hours after seeing a sample export.

Getting startedWhich tools do you use for bulk uploads?

On Shopify we often use the built-in CSV import or a bulk app such as Matrixify for richer data like metafields. On WooCommerce we use the core importer or a plugin suited to your fields. Your team keeps the templates and can run imports without us.

OwnershipDo we need HSN codes and Legal Metrology fields on every product?

Your GST invoices need the right HSN code and rate, and packaged goods sold online are expected to show declarations such as MRP, net quantity and country of origin. Requirements differ by product type, so please confirm the details with your adviser and accountant. We make sure the catalogue has a place for each one.

Getting startedWill cleaning the catalogue hurt our Google rankings?

Not if it is done with redirects. We map every removed or merged URL to its new home and watch Google Search Console after the change, following Google's guidance on site moves and duplicate pages.

OwnershipWho owns the templates and the cleaned data?

You do. The spreadsheets, the written rules and the catalogue in your store all belong to you, and nothing is locked into a tool only we can use.

Getting startedCan the catalogue sync from our ERP or Tally?

Yes, if your system can export or expose product data. We can schedule imports from an ERP or a shared sheet, and decide which system is the master for price, stock and descriptions.

Getting startedWhat if our team breaks the rules after handover?

We add checks to the templates so many errors are caught before import. On a care plan we also review the catalogue each month for duplicates, missing fields and broken images.
